Union Pacific plans to acquire Norfolk Southern through a combination of stock and cash transaction
Union Pacific Corporation and Norfolk Southern Corporation have reached an agreement to merge, resulting in the establishment of the first transcontinental railroad in the U.S. This merger will connect over 50,000 route miles across 43 states, spanning from the East Coast to the West Coast. Based on Union Pacific’s closing stock price on July 16, the implied value for each share of Norfolk Southern will be $320.
